Opmerking: De eigenaar van het handelsmerk Instituto Cervantes in de Benelux had H.K.H. Prinses Máxima reeds als beleidsmedewerkster in Amerika op het oog ten tijde van Haar werkzaamheden voor de Deutsche Bank in New York. Zij kan uiteraard tot aanstelling van de heer Gore overgaan. Inmiddels (5 december 2002) heeft zich ook een Argentijnse familie op De Zevende Hemel gevestigd en ook weer te koop gezet in de vermoedelijke veronderstelling dat dat pand thans veel geld gaat opleveren als zijnde de buurman van El novio de la Princesa de Gales.

In de tijd dat My Lady contact had met de beoogde sponsor uit Málibu steeg de waarde van diens pand ook ogenblikkelijk. En dan praten wij nog maar over onze 'sponsor'.

7.1.14.6 Ontwikkelingen
Per 1 januari 2004 is de heer Jaap de Hoop Scheffer- bekend van zijn historische uitspraak omtrent de gaten in de paarse sokken - benoemd tot Secretaris Generaal van de NAVO in New York en Brussel als opvolger van de heer Robertson uit Schotland. Hij heeft in dit verband in september 2003 een bezoek aan de Republikeinse president van de Verenigde Staten gebracht met de heer Jan-Peter Balkenende. Verdere ontwikkelingen zien WIJ met belangstelling tegemoet.

Vrijdag 2 september 2005. Don César Antonio Molina heeft op 29 juli 2005 in Valladolid zijn beleidsvoornemens bekend gemaakt inzake de Verenigde Staten als vermeld in La Paz de Valladolid. Ik citeer.

Hoogtepunt van deze bijeenkomst vormde de toespraak van mijn collega DON CÉSAR ANTONIO MOLINA, directeur van het SPAANSE INSTITUTO CERVANTES. In een toespraak van een uur - 12.30-13.30 - zette hij de ontwikkeling van het INSTITUTO CERVANTES uiteen. Het is duidelijk dat WIJ op hetzelfde moment op hetzelfde idee zijn gekomen vanaf 5 januari 1991. Enkele fragmenten uit zijn betoog.

Het INSTITUTO CERVANTES stelt zich ten doel het SPAANS te laten uitgroeien tot de grote internationale en culturele taal in de komende decennia. Ik geloof ook dat het INSTITUTO CERVANTES een instrument moet zijn om alle in Spanje gesproken talen te verbreiden. Het is geboren om de hispanistische cultuur te bevorderen door middel van het onderwijs van de taal. Met name op het gebied van de opleiding van leraren en het gebruik van technologieën. Dit in samenwerking met de intellectuele wereld op het gebied van de communicatie. Het INSTITUTO CERVANTES dient zich in te zetten voor de verbreiding van het Spaans door middel van een intensief promotieprogramma. Het SPAANS is de tweede taal in de internationale communicatie. Het is een nuttige en praktische taal. Het is een taal die gemakkelijk is te leren. De kennis van het SPAANS breidt zich voortdurend uit en de taal bevat een buitengewone rijkdom. Het INSTITUTO CERVANTES heeft haar studiecentra in 40 landen in de wereld. Het zijn open centra en als herbergen voor iedereen toegankelijk. Het zijn centra van uitwisseling van taal en cultuur. Wij gaan daar niet uitsluitend onderwijzen, maar ook leren van anderen. De haat jegens buitenlanders heeft bijgedragen tot een van de grootste kwalen van de mensheid. Wij willen geen buitenlander zijn in een land, maar een instituut als elk ander in elke stad waar wij ons bevinden. Wij willen dat alle grote, creatieve Spanjaarden met ons meewerken, zoals schrijvers, beeldhouwers en journalisten die het goede werk een warm hart toedragen. Ik heb over onze talen gesproken in het meervoud. Wij bevorderen dan ook onze taal als een gezamenlijke taal: het SPAANS. Wij streven er echter ook naar ALLE SPAANSE TALEN te bevorderen. Het INSTITUTO CERVANTES streeft ernaar dat het SPAANS uitgroeit tot DE GROTE INTERNATIONALE EN CULTURELE TAAL in de komende decennia. Het SPAANS is de tweede taal in de internationale communicatie.

De heer CESAR ANTONIO MOLINA spreekt verder over de uitbreiding van het CERVANTES NETWERK. De uitbreiding van het aantal studiecentra is constant. In september vorig jaar hebben KROONPRINS FELIPE en ZIJN ECHTGENOTE LETIZIA de vestiging in Boedapest geopend. In december in Belgrado. In februari in Sao Paulo. In april in Stockholm. Op 2 september wordt de vestiging in Praag geopend. En nog voor het eind van dit jaar openen wij de vestiging in Sofia. En volgend jaar Beijing, Shanghai, New Delhi, Seoel en Tokyo. In Brazilië krijgen wij de mogelijkheid onze centra uit te breiden naar Brasilia, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre, Indianapolis en Recife. Ook komt er een centrum in Salvador de la Bahia. Met de vestigingen in Sao Paulo en Rio de Janeiro wordt Brazilië het land met de meeste studiecentra van het INSTITUTO CERVANTES. De VERENIGDE STATEN vormen ook een speciaal geval. Wij bereiden daar thans ook een aanzienlijk uitbreidingsplan voor. Wij doen dat in samenwerking met Mexicaanse instellingen waaronder de UNIVERSIDAD AUTÓNOMA DE MÉXICO. Dit hele plan, het plan van Brazilië, Verenigde Staten en Azië loopt samen met de overige regio's in de wereld die het SPAANS beschouwen als het belangrijke internationale communicatiemiddel. Het INSTITUTO CERVANTES dient zich te vestigen in twaalf landen van de EUROPESE UNIE.

Voorts legt de heer MOLINA uit dat Spanje slechts een provincie is in de hele wereld van de HISPANIDAD. Negentig procent van de Spaansprekenden woont buiten Spanje. Hij benadrukt dat het HISPANO-AMERIKANISME een belangrijke rol speelt bij de uitbreiding van de taal. De Spaanssprekende regio's in Azië en de Stille Oceaan - waaronder het eiland Niue - zullen in de komende jaren groeien. Met name in verband met de groei van de economie. De VERENIGDE STATEN en BRAZILIË zijn de twee regio's waar het SPAANS met de hoogste snelheid groeit. De provincie waarin wij ons thans bevinden is het enige stukje dat zich op het Europese vasteland bevindt. Onze taal is hier in Europa ondergeschikt aan het Duits, Engels, Frans en Italiaans. Daarom kunnen we zonder overdrijving stellen dat de ontwikkeling van het SPAANS verloopt via Amerika. In China heeft de regering geëist dat een lid van de directie een Chinese ingezetene is. DAT GELDT DUS OOK VOOR DE BENELUX. Ik acht zelfs een Nederlands en Belgisch meerderheidsbelang in de directies van de instituten in UTRECHT en BRUSSE L van wezenlijk belang voor de positie van de Nederlandstalige hispanisten in de BENELUX.

De heer MOLINA brengt hierna verslag uit van het congres in ROSARIO in ARGENTINIË dat werd geopend door HUNNE MAJESTEITEN de KONING EN KONINGIN VAN SPANJE en de PRESIDENT VAN DE REPUBLIEK ARGENTINIË. Aan dit congres namen 200 mensen deel die hun bijdrage leverden in de vorm van een lezing. Er namen 5000 personen deel. Er waren meer dan 500 journalisten uit de hele wereld. Alle zittingen werden uitgezonden door de meest bekeken televisiezenders van Argentinië. Het INSTITUTO CERVANTES heeft overige instituten met dezelfde doelstelling uit andere landen overtroffen. Dit is niet verwonderlijk. De jonge mensen die onze organisatie ondersteunen maken gebruik van een groot netwerk van studiecentra en de laatste technologische hulpmiddelen. Men kan gebruik maken van deze studiecentra en van de AULA VIRTUAL DEL ESPAÑOL (AVE). Hiervan maken maandelijks anderhalf miljoen mensen gebruik. Dit educatief hulpmiddel is op het internet beschikbaar voor alle geïnteresseerden in de Spaanse en Hispano-Amerikaanse taal en cultuur. Dit jaar wordt er uitgebreid aandacht besteed aan de vierhonderdste verjaardag van de publikatie van het eerste deel van de don Quijote. Er is een speciale webpagina geopend met alle schrijvers die de jaarlijkse PREMIO CERVANTES hebben toegekend gekregen. De laatste technologische ontwikkeling binnen het INSTITUTO CERVANTES is de cursus Spaans via het internet. De AULA VIRTUAL DEL ESPAÑOL (AVE). Dit maakt het onderwijs op afstand mogelijk. Mét of zonder aanwezigheid in het studiecentrum. Er zijn meer dan 400 instellingen die dit communicatiemiddel gebruiken binnen hun onderwijssysteem. Hiervoor hebben zich 10.000 leerlingen ingeschreven. Ook hebben veel instellingen zich aangemeld, zoals het Ministerie van Onderwijs van IJsland, UNESCO, de centrale vestiging in de Verenigde Staten en vele Noordamerikaanse universiteiten. Via de AVE zijn cursussen beschikbaar voor de niveaus beginners, half-gevorderden en gevorderden. Managementtrainingen van het INSTITUTO CERVANTES BENELUX zullen in de Verenigde Staten vooral in samenwerking met DE BAAK worden georganiseerd en RENNERT BILINGUAL.

23 FEBRUARI 2008: INSTITUTO CERVANTES BENELUX, ENGLAND AND WALES STEUNT DE KANDIDATUUR VAN HILLARY CLINTON VOOR HET PRESIDENTSCHAP VAN DE VERENIGDE STATEN

WOENSDAG 4 JUNI 2008 De strijd om de Democratische presidentskandidatuur lijkt vandaag beslist in de VERENIGDE STATEN VAN AMERIKA. Enkele supergedelegeerden lijken de totaaltellingen te hebben overruled op het moment dat HILLARY op de overwinning leek af te stevenen. Maar ik ben het er niet mee eens dat Barack Obama zichzelf tot winnaar heeft uitgeroepen. Ik vind het een vreemde zaak dat hij dat heeft gedaan op het moment dat HILLARY had laten weten over het hoogste aantal stemmen te beschikken en de uitslag van South Dakota en Montana nog niet bekend was. Ik heb de indruk dat de heer Obama hier een procedurefout heeft gemaakt.

Mijn bezoek aan Rotterdam eindigde traditiegetrouw in het café Engels in het Groothandelsgebouw. Daar is thans een restaurant gevestigd met de naam DON QUIJOTE. Een goede plaats om een diner te organiseren voor een stichting die zich wijdt aan bevordering van handel.
